ReNaTe is the latest project in matterr’s collaboration with the Institute of Chemical and Thermal Process Engineering (ICTV) at TU Braunschweig. With several joint research projects carried out, ICTV has been the central scientific partner in the development of our polyester recycling technology since 2017.

Exploring the Value of Recycling Side Streams

Our core chemical recycling process recovers the original monomers from PET-containing waste, enabling them to re-enter existing PET supply chains. But a truly circular process requires looking at the whole system, which is why our ambition goes beyond the main recycling output.

ReNaTe will explore how additional process streams from PET recycling can be further valorised, with the aim of establishing a marketable value component and further improving the overall resource efficiency of the recycling process.

By investigating potential uses for materials currently arising as additional process outputs, ReNaTe contributes to the further development of matterr’s recycling process and its overall resource efficiency. We are looking forward to continuing our collaboration with ICTV.
